One of my personal challenges is to use papers from some older kits each week. Since I have been a member since 2002 I have plenty to pick from. I was able to use two older kits this week.
For both this card and the next I chose English Garden from May 2004. I have always loved the subtle prints, and one particular sheet featured four different plant and flower images. Tear them apart, add a ribbon and sentiment, and you have a card. And I must add, I was very pleased with my bows. They almost never look this nice. Must be the ribbon...
This card uses paper uses paper from the latest kit for February 2014, Big Deal. Its theme is primarily cards and games, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this sympathy sentiment as part of the Greetings to Go portion of the kit. It is hard to see the card base, but it uses a very nicely embossed tan paper, so I chose to also emboss the cream panel with small dots using my Sizzix Big Shot embossing machine. Tore off the end, add the ribbon, and ready to go.
I also made a layout this week. I had not made an actual scrapbook layout for about two years, so it felt good to do that once again. I will try to incorporate a layout with each week's challenge. This paper is from Wings July 2005. I used a plain cardstock as the base, and the patterned paper torn on top. The paper is so beautiful all by itself, so I did not feel like the page needed much extra embellishment. Sometimes the paper IS the embellishment.
That's it for this week! See you next time.
